There Is No Such Thing As 'Random Dreams'....

Dreams can always be interpreted...dreams always mean something...there is no such thing as a random dream...sometimes there is just an inability and/or an unwillingness to interpret a dream...sometimes a dream can take us into areas of ourselves that we might not feel comfortable talking about or sharing...sometimes dreams can take us into areas of our erotic life that we might want to keep hidden...sometimes dreams -- especially 'serial dreams' -- can be linked to childhood 'transference' memories....sometimes dreams can have 'nightmare' elements in them that may reflect either hidden fears and/or hidden impulses...'closet fears and/or impulses'...'defended against' fears and/or impulses...Dreams from our 'Shadow' or our 'Id'...that we may push back down because they scare us...in some cases...may even overwhelm us...

We may be happy when 'Apollo' wakes up, gives our head a shake, and takes over the reins from our 'Midnight Rambler' -- 'Dionysis'....and brings Dionysus back under control again...puts Dionysus back in his 'basement floor or room' of the personality...and locks the door...and/or even puts shackles on him/her...listening to him rattle his chains...Fortunately, he/she has to sleep sometime too...

The relationship between Apollo and Dionysus will always be tense -- either a good tension and/or a bad one...but either way with lots of positive and negative, intellectual, romantic, sexual, and aggressive energy coming together in some 'Clash of These Two Titans'....resulting in either an integration and/or an impasse...

Again, this whole scenario can be scary unless or until this great mixture of energy is harnessed in a healthy, constructive way -- or not.

The purpose of Psychoanalysis (including what I am calling 'DGB Quantum Psychoanalysis' has always been to open our eyes to 'broader self-awarenesses' and 'potentials for integration' both in the confines of our own personality, and in the outside world.

But once again, 'self-defenses' can rise to prevent exactly this same 'broader awareness' and 'potential for integration' from actually happening.

The process can be scary...memories, fantasies, nightmares, impulses, wishes -- can all be scary...

We might want to 'close down the latches of certain basement corridors and rooms of our personality' -- and keep them strongly locked.

But the suppressed and repressed will always return...if only in our dreams and nightmares...

In this regard, no matter how far we want to push our dream elements away from us, dreams are never 'meaningless' or 'random'...and 'unfinished business', 'unclosed gestalts'....will invariably return...
