Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen,
A/ Introduction: The Meaning of Three Acronyms That Represent The Essence of This 'Multiple-Based-School, Multiple-Bipolar, Dialectically Integrative, School of Philosophy-Psychology
What we have below is what I call a 'GAP-DGB-ASIF' model of the personality. Now, I realize that sometimes acronyms can get a little out of control and may do more to confuse than to clarify certain points of view.
However, the triple acronym listed above is important to my particular perspective and paradigm that is coming down the chute in a very few moments. So let me try to explain the use of this triple acronym very quickly.
1. 'GAP'.................represents the three main schools of psychology that, integrated, make up the essence of this particular perspective-paradigm and resulting model of the personality. These three schools of psychology are: 'G' -- Gestalt Therapy; 'A' -- Adlerian Psychology; and 'P' -- Psychoanalysis (which includes all of: Early Freudian (Pre-)Psychoanalytic Theory (1893-1896); Classical Psychoanalysis (1897 to 1940); Object Relations (Klein, Winnicott, Fairbairn, Guntrip...); and Self-Psychology(Kohut); Honorable mention in terms of other schools of influence on the model go to: Jungian (Analytic) Psychology; Rank's Will Therapy; Berne's Transactional Analysis; Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT); General Semantics and Language-Meaning-Communication Therapy; Horney's Brand of Humanistic-Existential (Neo) Psychoanalysis; Fromm's Brand of Human-Existential (Neo) Psychoanalysis; Hartmann's Ego Psychology, Client-Centered Therapy (Rogers); Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs; Maxwell Maltz's Psycho-Cybernetics (Psychology of Self-Esteem); Nathaniel Branden's Psychology of Self-Esteem, Janov's Primal Therapy....
2. 'DGB'...............stands for 'Dialectic-Gap-Bridging' -- meaning the 'bridging of gaps in theory and therapy between different schools of psychology...as well as the bridging of gaps between different dissociated parts in the personality -- particularly 'bipolar avoidances and obsessions' and/or 'dominant vs. submissive parts of the personality...
3. 'ASIF' stands for the idea of a 'concept', a 'model', a 'theory', a 'paradigm' representing an 'ASIF' subjective, philosophical construction of the mind that is aimed at helping to better understand, explain, predict, and/or control certain represented phenomena in our internal and/or external 'subjective-objective world'....ASIF -- as an acronym -- stands for 'Alternative-Supplemental-Integrative-Friendly'....
